OFFLINE

Well, the election is over.  I have so much on my mind, I don't know where to start.  Start with the republicans, I guess.  I just got done trying to create an account at GOP.com, the official home page of the republican party. Just like everything else on the national level, it is screwed up.  Even though I entered all my info (tried twice) I don't think I got an account created and can't figure out why.  So, I turned to the local level.

I am not and have never been a political activist but I can no longer remain silent and am looking for ways for the people to be heard.  I have been a registered, voting republican for more than 30 years and have watched  government "By the people and for the people" decline to the point to where it is difficult to tell the difference between the parties, let alone get real representation for the people. We have remained silent and put up with being forced to choose "the better of two evils" for way to many years.  We the people need to be heard in order to be properly represented by our elected officials.  I have some ideas to that end, but have not yet figured out how to institute them.  So I am attempting to get it started at a grass roots level in hopes that it will grow to a national level.

What I am talking about here does not apply only to the republican party, I realize there are different opinions than mine and applaud that fact.  The common denominator is that none of us are being heard and we continue to get policies pushed on us that most of the people you talk to disagree with.  Over the years this has created a lot of apathy among us.  I, for one, think it is time to do something about that.

So where do we start?  Over all the years I have been a registered participant in the political process of our great nation, I have never been asked, even one time what I thought about any policies or actions planned by my party.  My idea initially was to find someone to write to at party headquarters and say hey, why not have a serious of surveys or questionnaires posted on the web site where fellow republicans could let there voices be heard and likewise the other parties could have the same sort of thing available to them at there respective web sites.  Once this was set up, it could be advertised to the public on TV.  Funded by some of that money they are using for campaign commercials for people and policies we don't want or agree with anyway.  I think that would be a good way to start out.  With the difficulty I encountered just trying to find someone to write to at the national level, I figured there has to be a better way.

What I am talking about here is a change in the way things are done.  Always in the past, someone has come along with there personal ideas and political connections saying this is what the people want.  Then somebody else comes along and says no, your wrong, they want this.  Then we the people have to vote for one of them when really, neither one of them knows what we really want....they never took the time to ask us.  I believe if we had some kind of outlet where we could voice what we truly want from our representatives, people would step up that were like minded and run for offices.  With the technology we have available in this day and age, I believe this can be done if officials of the respective parties truly want to represent the people.

I hear what you are saying. I have often said that just one time before I die I would like to go to the polls and vote for the best candidate all across the slate. So far I can count on my fingers the total number of times I was able to do that for even a single office.
