Blog Entry: Orchid growing is a very satisfying hobby as well as educational and entertaining. I started about 9 years ago with just one orchid and now I have over 600 different ones. I find it relaxing, and destressing to work (play) with my orchids and it has given my wife and I something in common to do together. We go to meetings, shows around the country, and help with the local orchid club. In 2008 we went to the international orchid show in Florida for a week and also took a week to cruise the Carribean. SO many beautiful orchids and so little room in my green house to contain them. We have met many great people and have become great and best friends. If you are interested or think you are interested in trying to raise orchids it is quite simple and easy even inside the home. Go to the local meetings and find out about them or post a message here and I will try to answer them the best I can or put you in contact with someone who can answer your questions. THe local club meets once a month, and always has a discussion or speaker on some subject to do with orchid growing. They also put on displays around the immediate area several times a year. At the meetings there are free drawings and refreshments. Consider coming to one and seeing for yourself. bring your sick orchid to get help and one in bloom to show the other attendees. In the future there will be repotting classes where you will get a free seedling to plant and take home with you. Come and learn the ins and outs of orchid growing.
